Honestly I ate here over an year ago but I still remember how delicious it was & how nice they were so I thought I'd leave a review since I'm thinking about visiting soon again.

Chicken and Cheese! That's what I go for and nothing else! Don't forget to smother your dish with tons of Sun Sauce! You won't find anything else like it and you will find yourself craving the chicken and cheese and won't be able to resist going back for some more

The chicken and cheese is orgasmic!...drench it in their special sauce and enjoy!...it's super cheesy and extremely filling!...highly recommended for hang overs!

My goto place for chicken and cheese. There sun sauce is OUT OF THIS WORLD, and available on every table. When my friends/family eat here I empty the bottle every time! It's amazing on chicken and cheese as well as crackers. This place has been here for over 40 years and just went through a remodel 2 years ago. A must visit if hanging in north Miami beach. Even though I live over 50 minutes away they deliver to broward county and even boca.

I was way overcharged compared to the prices on multiple online menus. Ordered what appeared to be $23 worth and was charged $45 upon delivery. While the food tends to be decent, I fed the vegetable lo mein to the dog. They should be ashamed to charge nearly $20 for plain noodles, overcooked veggies, and a corn-syrupy sauce.

Great fresh food. Fresh fish. Fresh veg. Fresh chicken. The three of us enjoyed our food, our server, our host and the four regulars who go there just about every Friday. Will be coming back!!!

What a fantastic evening at Here Comes the Sun. Who would have known that my baby was going to be born a few days after my review. Well tonight we returned for the first time since then - Rock Star baby is now 18mths old. We walked in and were shocked at the sleek renovations. You won't recognize the place. We dug the homey, divey sort of diner vibe before, but also were hip to the new space. It's clean and sleek while still maintaining that comfortable round the way vibe. We were welcomed as if we had walked into someone's home. We had the same super sweet server that we had last time. Love her. Everyone was so friendly to the baby and welcomed him. We ordered him a grilled chicken breast which was perfect. Dad had mixed bean soup and spinach lasagna. Delicious. I had the Vegetarian...love that dish. You can choose sautéed or steamed rice. I go for steamed - it's so good and the baby dug it as well. I chatted a bit with someone eating behind us - the place fosters that friendly vibe among customers. We had a great night and will be back soon. Oh and a nice thing to know is that they'll deliver to South Beach. We're happy!

I think it's only fair that to give this north Miami staple a five star review. They have done there due diligence in modernizing the restaurant and the new digs look great! Call in an order? Most the time you'd think the guy is extremely rude but he's actually just really efficient, being a local you can literally call i Chicken and cheese + sun sauce Sweet potato fries+honey =yes please

My husband and I have been coming here for over 15 years. The food is consistently good and always fresh. However, our biggest complaint is that they over charge us every single time at least three to four dollars each time when the owner rings us up. Make sure to do the math and check your change when coming here. They're kind of dishonest, if you ask me.

I went to visit this place one night to have dinner. I have lived in Miami for years and never knew that this place existed until I saw it on the TV show "Check Please". The service was good and the food was very tasty. I will definitely visit again and bring my vegetarian friends.

I had Here Comes the Sun last night and am an instant fan! I ordered for pick up. When I arrived I only waited a few moments. The food was so hot and ready to eat when I got home. First off, a lot of people write on here the food is bland. I guess if you insist on living on a ton a salt and lots of MSG then this food will seem bland to you. But if you actually like the flavor of the food you are ordering for what it is, this place is perfectly awesome. The Chicken and Cheese was amazing. So simple, so delicious. The Cashew Chicken was also incredible. The sun sauce really is tasty and enhances the meal. But, while the sun sauce is yummy, both meals were delicious without it as well. The portions are HUGE. You will definitely have lunch the next day. Dinners come with a soup or salad. The side salad is simple and great. The garlic dressing is divine! Since it was my first time there I was offered a Red Zinger Iced Tea - this is also amazing. Have a glass when you dine in - taking it to go it just doesn't last long enough!

Fruit salad is good & plentiful. I wouldn't mind if they cut it by 1/3 to bring the cost down. Sun sauce is good. Tastes like tahini. Vegetable roll was horrible. It was extremely dry & virtually nothing inside. Tuna salad is OK but could use a little more flavor (maybe celery).

Beware!! The food may taste good but I got food poisoning immediately after eating their "sun sauce". A dressing they say is Miso and Tofu. Either that or the grilled tofu made me have to pull over my car 15 minutes after leaving and throw up! Furthermore, later I was at Target explaining this to a friend, and a random Target shopper interrupted me and said she over heard my conversation and the same thing happened to her at this place!! Here comes the runs!

One more thing you can't forget the sweet potato fries... And they just remodeled also great place!

"It was just a greasy, messy, heavy, expensive plate of mediocrity. That's the best way to explain it." I came here with a friend who raved about the place. He said it was a secret gem and that I just had to try the famed "Chicken & Cheese" ($13) and the "Sweet Potato Fries" ($5). We walked in and the place was pretty big. It looked brand new, too, so I'm assuming they just remodeled. Only half of the restaurant is utilized for dining and the other half has 2 wall shelves with some kind of merchandise. I didn't really see what else was there. We arrived during lunch and were sat right away. I thought the entire menu was ridiculously expensive. There weren't even lunch specials, but maybe they don't need them because it was busy. There isn't even a kid's menu. There's just a ton of choices with very expensive items. The waitress was nice enough, but offered no recommendations at all. To me, that sucks. The fries came out first. They're actually cut more like discs than the traditional julienned variety, but shape doesn't really matter. There was no seasoning on them whatsoever and were a bit soft (as cooked sweet potato tends to be). They were ok, I suppose - but definitely not worth the $5. He told me to pour the sauce and honey over it. I opted for the sauce. It was nothing special. It actually tastes like a watered-down mustard/mayo mixture. Again, just ok. Then came the Chicken & Cheese. He thought he remembered it being cheaper, but it was $13. I don't know why there's so much hype surrounding this dish but it was pretty awful. And whoever thinks it's healthy is insane. It was a small plate filled to the brim with [what tastes like Uncle Ben's] rice and topped with breaded chicken breast chunks and melted mozzarella cheese. There was absolutely no seasoning at all. I've had hospital food with more taste. It was just a greasy, messy, heavy, expensive plate of mediocrity. That's the best way to explain it. I also heard they had good ice cream but, as luck would have it, the machine was broken. I don't know what everyone sees, but my food was pretty bad. But people and phone orders both kept coming in. I just don't get it.

Great food BUT I'm very disappointed that they use products such as styrofoam and plastic. If you're going to be a healthy environmentally aware place you have to at least walk the walk. Please switch out your styrofoam and plastic products for alternatives :) I'll update my rating too.

Yummmmm!! Their sun sauce is spectacular. I have it on everything. My favorite thing on the menu is their chicken and cheese!!! I replace the rice for brown rice and their fried chicken with grilled chicken. I highly recommend this place!

I am writing a review for a meal I had here with my dad when I turned eight years old. (30 years ago yesterday) I didn't know it at the time, but he had cancer. I remember very clearly getting a big, beautiful salad with sunflower seeds in it and what I now know was apple cider vinegar. My dad took me to show me how important it was to eat healthy foods. He died four years later, living longer than doctors had predicted, which I'm sure had no small thing to do with his healthy dietary and lifestyle changes. He lived with cancer for years, enjoying his life, and always bouncing back from surgeries quickly. He even regrew much of his hair after the extensive chemotherapy and radiation that was forced on him. Alas, he did succumb to cancer, but he passed on some very important thing to me. I am now a Holistic Health Counselor, Nutritionist, and Healer. All this is to say that your restaurant gave me the first taste of what would become one my life's greatest passions. Thank you, Here Comes the Sun. Now I spread sunshine wherever I go. xox

This is a tough review to write because I love the sun burger and their famous sun sauce. As for the complaint about how filthy the place is, I guess I feel like most restaurants aren't as clean as we would like them to be and I haven't seen anything off-putting at the restaurant except for this... Every time I come I sit by myself at the same table closest to the door and register and am served by the same kind woman without fail. Unfortunately, my proximity to the cash register permits me to hear the discussions had between the owners (I believe it's the man at the register and the women behind the bar) and their employees. I have NEVER in my life heard owners (specifically the female owner) speak so poorly to their staff, it's sickening. I can't tell you how many times I've walked in hoping that things have changed but they never do. The female owner talks to her staff like they are imbeciles and it feels borderline discriminatory. It's beyond me how they put up with it. I'm also shocked that no one else has picked up on it. Blissful ignorance perhaps? The only time I've ever heard someone say anything about how the owner is was this one woman who picked up her order and as she walked out she muttered something to the owner about how bad they treat their staff. Here Comes the Sun, you have great food but learn how to speak productively to your delivery people and wait staff. It's pathetic and I've had enough.

  • Alexandria B.

Ummmm. No. The Sun sauce tastes like thin wet sweet stuff. The service was horrible. The staff looked tired and study. No uniform. No happy faces. No sense of urgency at all. I saw mixed reviews so I tried it out and I'm never coming back. There bland lasagna filled me up, but I'm mad I finished it. It was too hot to eat, and I swear there was a word smell I didn't appreciate lingering around. The tissue paper place mats were ridiculous. I can't even. The menu was far too long, and I wouldn't dare try anything on their fish menu, just because it's nearly impossible to cider the grounds their menu aims for. Never been more unsatisfied and full at the same time on my life. There may be one or two good apples in the bag, but a few spoiled, will ruin them all.

I have been meaning to write this review for the last couple of months because they deserve it. I have to say I stayed away for a number of years because the owner let the place get really run down. The food was alright to good, and I felt justified in staying away when it was reported on one of the local stations that cleanliness was not being kept up to the health dept. standards. Then it happened. A major renovation and what a change. My wife always liked the place and I am more than comfortable letting her have her way when she insists we eat healthier. Healthier is right in the wheelhouse of Here comes the Sun. Keep up the good work, fresh food, bright sun shiny atmosphere and you got me coming back for more. Love that chicken 'n cheese!

Chicken and cheese is so amazing I crave it every other day. The guy when you answer the phone is pretty rude and acts like a know it all but if you talk to him he's nice and funny. Poor guy he's always there all day everyday in that chair cut him some slack. This place is authentic nothing like it been there for years. Only thing is the food is a little pricey but worth it for the portion size and taste. Give it a try you won't regret anything you get from here!

When you see lots of just five stars and one star reviews on Yelp, you should have an idea what's going on. The restaurant looks very odd.. More like a art studio of some sort but filled with cheap tables n chairs.. The guy sitting at the "receptionist" area acting and looking like he's running a auto repair shop, doesn't greet anyone but just keep chatting to his buddy. Food and drinks are tasteless and look like made by someone who just started learning how to cook... And the prices for most dishes are more expensive than the same dishes from most places I've been to... I more than often look at reviews before I go into any restaurant so most of them are pretty decent so I've never ever written a bad review but this one is just... ghetto. Absolutely AWEFUL.

I don't understand what the big deal about this place is when it's really just a hole in the wall, the food is horribly bland, service is mediocre... Such a waste of time. I ordered the vegetarian chili with a side salad and the waitress actually warned me that it was going to be bland... Was it ever! I should've listened to her. I received a giant plate of rice with beans and tomato sauce that tasted as if it had come out of a can and enormous pieces of onions. The side salad looked like it had been put aside for weeks; vegetables SO dry I could exfoliate my skin with them. How is this place even considered to be such a great vegetarian place??? The 60% of the menu consisted of fish or chicken. Not worth it. Don't even bother.

Chicken and cheese!!!!! I've been eating this for years down in Miami. I look forward to it on every visit. The "healthier" version with soy cheese and grilled chicken is good, but I would stick with the original with real cheese and chicken cutlet. Remember to get your zinger in the side! 2 questions: (1) when will you start selling sun sauce? (2) when are you opening in New York??

  • Planters V.

I've been here multiple times, and am struck how tasteless the good here is. I must disclose that my wife loves this place hands down. Yes the food is healthy. But outside the sauces, they need to learn how to put some flavor in the sandwiches and pasta.

  • Elena D.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Miami! My faves are the Brown rice and cheese (you can get it with chicken), Neil's special, chicken parm, and sweet fries! The sun sauce is the best thing everrrrr!

I love this place. I eat here every time I'm in town. I am really happy with the updates they have been making to the restaurant. I highly recommend the sun burger, chicken and cheese, red zinger ice tea and the banana cake.

Here comes the worst Here comes the worst, and I say It's all crap. Terrible. What a waste of money, I think I'll pass on second opinions from now, and just make my own. I ordered the chicken and cheese (highly recommended based on the average review) -- it was basic as all heck. It's pieces of chicken with cheese and under it a plethora of rice. That's about 2.5/5. However, that couldn't hold a handle to the sweet potato fries (another highly recommended one), which were just awful. The fries were stale, semi-cold, burnt, nothing to rave about. This place is terrible, shame on me for ordering here.

i don't know what the inside of Here Comes the Sun looks like, nor do i care. i ordered take out for lunch and all i know is that i had a DELICIOUS salad. california salad as they call it... it had brown rice, lettuce, tomato, avocado & onions. those were my toppings of choice. pretty sure you can top it with whatever you'd like. AMAZE BALLS to the 3rd degree. also, do yourself a favor and have a side of sun sauce.

I have been going to this place since I was a kid. My mom can still tell you what flavor soup they have every day. It's a local place and everyone in the area knows about it. There chicken and cheese is famous in the area. I actually prefer it with soy cheese. A lot of people in the place are regulars.

I love love love this place. I moved up to broward and used to make special trips to HCTS so I could have my chicken and cheese fix once a month. Last time I went in, the owner, who is always very nice, commented that the store makes special deliveries all the way up to Parkland on tuesdays and thursdays, and now I get a call those mornings so I can choose whether to place an order. I'll never go without sun sauce agan.

Very good, large portion sizes for a good price. Not as many healthy things as I expected. Ambiance looks messy. For a restaurant that's been there over 30 years you'd think they'd make it look like they didn't just open that week.

Awesome food, great guy answering the phones for to go orders... tells us the salmon is the best we will ever have and guess what... it sure didn't disappoint. When you can order healthy organic food and they always throw in special treats for the order you know you're ordering from a really cool place. This place is our new to go staple... always tasty, never guilty, and good attitudes all around. Thanks!

For my first review, I decided to chose my favorite restaurant of all time, Here Comes the Sun (H.C.T.S.). Since I was about 10 years old, I have been going to this Miami establishment and it never disappoints! Although I have tried probably every menu offering H.C.T.S. has to offer, my favorite go tos are the red zinger tea, baked sweet potatoes fries, their chicken parmigiana, or their infamous chicken and cheese with veggies (preferably with soy). Regardless of what I order, I always ensure to douse my dishes with their infamous "sun sauce." I have yet to discover what exactly is in their sun sauce, but can honestly say whatever it is is crack. Whenever I come back to Miami, it goes without saying that I will come to H.C.T.S. and bring containers full of sun sauce home with me to New York cause it is just that addictive. Sun sauce tastes similar to a miso dressing, but a bit lighter and versatile making it a great dressing for every sort of dish offering at H.C.T.S. To top off the meal, H.C.T.S. always offers frozen yogurt to satisfy your sweet taste buds ( a huge plus for me being the dessert feign that I am). As much as I am obsessed with the food, I always love the feeling I get when coming to eat there. Not only does it bring back great childhood memories, but the owners of this family restaurant restaurant are always so welcoming. Although I have been going years and know the owners from being such a frequent customer, they always remember a familiar face and know great customer service. Some of their other meal options I recommend are the vegetarian (grilled tofu, brown rice with julienned vegetables), the sun burger (delicious veggie burger) or the California salad.

I love a good hole in the wall. Now a healthy hole in the wall is a little slice of heaven. Here is what we shared: ...Avocado salad - Loved it with the fresh Florida avocado (much less fat than the California ones) ...Chicken and Cheese - The signature dish for good reason. Seriously maybe one of the best things on the planet. The chicken and melted cheese top a bed of rice. It is large, so share. ...Sunburger - One of the best I have had. Very tasty and a good substitute for beef ...Fried Sweet Potato Chips w/ sun sauce - hallelujah, I would beg for these For the price and for your health - this place is unbeatable. BONUS TIME: Free frozen yogurt at the end - flavor changes BONUS TIME 2: Ask for Sun Sauce to bring home, it makes everything taste better BONUS TIME 3: see bonus time 2

A no-frills North Miami landmark serving "healthy food." They serve one of the great all-time South Florida dishes, chicken and cheese. Put the sun sauce on top, and it may rank among many people's last meals on earth. Other must tries are the tuna melt or any melt. The oven just makes the cheese perfect and puts an awesome crisp and crunch to the pita. Absolutely perfect. Also be sure to try the sweet potato fries (with the honey) and the potato skins. The skins have more potato than you may want, but it is again the magical oven at work that makes them great by making the cheese perfect. Try it with mushrooms, and this may be all you order because you will be filled. Alright. The place is a dump. They haven't put a dime into it in maybe 15 years. And as good as the oven is, the bathrooms may be just as bad. But I don't care. The food is rock solid because they have the best oven around. Go and you will find one dish that you will order every time you go back. For me, chicken and cheese or a tuna melt with sweet potato fries and honey.

I give myself 0 stars for ass-u-me-ing that this place was a vegetarian restaurant. I'd seen it on many Yelpers vegetarian lists. That's why I was slightly surprised to learn that (as a vegan) I only had 1 section of the menu to choose from. It certainly simplified my choices. I tried the sunburger with miso dressing and the sweet potato chips. The sunburger tasted delicious-like falafel. In a large patty rather than balls. The miso tasted like tahini. It's all good to me because I like falafel and tahini. The sweet potato chips went well with the "miso dressing" too. My friend ordered the tuna melt and enjoyed her meal as well. Over all, the ambience leaves much to be desired. The place is very old. The food on the shelves in the grocery section has dust on it.Fortunately the bathroom was clean so I had a little more faith in the cleanliness of the prepared food. Our water glasses were always quickly refilled and the portions were hearty and very tasty. The prices are reasonable. Would I go back? Only if in the immediate area.

A VEG-FRIENDLY RESTAURANT THAT DELIVERS IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD? When I heard about this place, I thought I'd hit the jackpot. But not so fast, carrot breath, there's a catch; a couple, actually. The first 3 times I called, they were already closed, or about to close, or the delivery guy was already done for the night. Apparently, this is a place that believes people should eat their evening meal between 6:30 and 8:00 PM. Period. Personally, I'm lawless and godless, and I almost never manage to get around to dinner until almost 9:00, shameful as that may seem. So, on Monday night, it was a rare situation where I was out and about and thinking about picking up something for dinner at 7:00. I called and hallelujah! They picked up the phone and took my order and said I could come pick it up. I ordered a dinner portion of the vegetarian stir fry with tofu on rice. It was ready when I got there. It was a very generous portion with a side salad. Price: $16.00. This was take out, not delivered. The food was very, very good. Tofu was prepared perfectly. There was a nice variety of excellent, fresh veggies and bean sprouts and delicious wholesome brown rice. They gave me plenty of sauce and miso salad dressing to go with it. There was enough food for 2 complete meals. I will definitely order from Here Comes the Sun again, but I won't order from them often. It's very delicious, but not convenient. I'd really rather be able to order delivery until about 11:00 PM, and I'd like the option to pay $8.00 for a 1-person meal and not deal with leftovers.

I visited this place a while back. When I got there the restaurant was empty. As I stepped in I was completely ignored by everybody who works there. After standing there for a few minutes, a "gentleman" shouted: "ANYWHERE!" Perplexed, I looked around trying to figure out what the shouting was all about. He gave me condescending look, and said again "ANYWHERE!!" I proceeded to sit "ANYWHERE." I picked one of the booths stuck towards the back of the place. A few minutes later a waitress came back and took my order. As I was waiting for my food to come out, other customers started to come in through the restaurant's doors. As three or four tables were being occupied my food came out. I started to eat as the waitress came over and said: "Since you are by yourself we need you to move to a smaller table." The waitress said this to me as I was literally chewing my food. I told her that the "kind" gentleman in the front said I could sit "anywhere." She said: "Yeah I know. But you need to move." I put my fork down, asked for the check. Paid and left without finishing the food. Which by the way was below average. Dear owners of this fine establishment. Get it together. If you wanted me to sit "ANYWHERE" let me sit "ANYWHERE." That is the reason I waited for someone to tell me where to sit. I would appreciated someone coming over and telling me that I had to move BEFORE I had started to eat my food. If you have read any of my reviews you know how much I value customer service. This place failed miserably to make me happy in any way. I will not recommend this place to anyone. And every chance I get, I tell this story to friends and family and warn them about how poorly this establishment treats their customers.

I've been going to HCTS for years! I remember working in a summer camp nearby and ordering lunch for everyone because we were sick of hot dogs and pizza and craved healthier options. This is definitely a healthy option with lots of variety. They have a big selection on the menu. Don't just expect to see a few items that look unappetizing. Everything is fresh, flavorful, and REAL. I love a place where I can get food delivered that's healthy and won't break the bank. Service has always been great as well. I've never encountered a rude employee. They're quick too. I went in for takeout the other day and was in and out within 5 or 10 minutes. I also found out that they will deliver downtown! Give them a call with your order in the morning and they'll bring the food to your office downtown around lunch time. Awesome? Yep. My favorite item here is the chicken and cheese dish. It comes with this glorious sauce that makes me want to lick the takeout container clean. It's melted cheese (low fat, i think), huge chunks of chicken, and basmati rice. They threw in some frozen yogurt with my last order and it was such a sweet ending to an already perfect meal. I think the only thing keeping me from having a serious HCTS addiction is the price. My chicken and cheese lunch portion came out to around $13 with tax and a little something in the tip jar. Maybe a teensy bit overpriced for a lunch portion. Prices are similar to Granny Feelgood's, my other favorite healthy restaurant, and despite dropping a few dollars more than I'd like for a meal, I end up leaving satisfied.

Everyone raves about this place but I really don't see what the big deal is. I ordered the chicken and cheese and it was ALRIGHT, nothing special and nothing I can't make at home myself. The sweet potato fries are my favorite though, really yum! I've given this place two chances, I don't think the third time will be a charm.

The food here is good. I've had their famous "chicken and cheese" and a few other dishes. It is worth a try if you're in the area. With that said, I stick to takeout. This place is such a dive on the inside. The staff is super friendly, though.

After living in the neighbor for years I'm surprised I didn't visit this place sooner. A few people have recommended it me, so one day I decided to try with my coworker. I would say the food is good, not great. A blast from the past, I felt transformed as I sat in tI didn't feel like I was in North Miami. It's a niche restaurant, In my opinion you will either love it or find it passé. Personally for my taste, I found it forgettable. A shame because I came in with a certain expectation which I shouldn't have.

I have been here several times before, and I guess I am still trying to capture what some people rave about. Today was my last time trying to figure it out, bc its really not worth it. I went in today around 1230p and almost immediately placed my order for the chicken breast melt. After 30 minutes I said to the waitress "Do you know where my food is? We are going on 30 minutes." Although she heard me, she chose to not respond at all. Just as I was about to leave, my food came. It was a pressed pita melt, and although I do not wear glasses, it may have helped me find the chicken. It was a small and thin breast that was so small that you could not see it in the pita. The pita looked like it was a cheese melt. While the sun sauce was alright tasting, I found it to be watery and nothing to die for. Also annoying about the service....a waitress kept coming by and asking if I needed anything, and then didn't bring it. She stopped by and said "Can I get you anything?" to which I asked for napkins. 5 minutes later, I had to ask someone else. Near the end of my meal, the same lady came by and asked if she could get me anything to which I asked for the check. 5 minutes later I had to ask her for it again. Service was slow, servers were a little rude and not very good at what they do(which is sad. all they have to do is bring you what you ask for to pass that test!) food was mediocre at best. I will not be back. I think its more hip to rave about this place and their sun sauce than it is actually good!

I love old restaurants, but I would love to see this one cleanup and update the decor. The food was healthy and fresh but not fantastic. The place looked a little old and the bottle of sun sauce was sticky and dirty. Didn't feel the need to return after the second visit. But reading the reviews- people seem to LOVE this place- I just don't know why.

Been eating at HCTS for more than a decade now.... LOVE THIS PLACE. i've eaten nearly the entire menu & the highlights are the onion rings, sweet potato fries, chicken & cheese, sun burger, red zinger iced tea.... all of which tastes better with a mountain of sun sauce on it. yes, even the tea. i also always get the tofu with sauteed onions. in what seems like a different life i was a vegetarian (i'm a carnivore extraordinaire now:) and i have eaten a lot of tofu and nothing compares to here comes the sun's tofu.

after coworker brought back " chicken and cheese " from there and i tried some i decided to go there for lunch, cute little place, cozy, very friendly, prompt staff, healthy and not so healthy food served at a reasonable cost. i will be back, recommended!

There place has been here for over 25 years I have been going since I was a little kid. Everything they offer is healthy, and they pretty much deliver anywhere for a fee. They have great tofu with veggies and melted cheese. I usually always order that but recently tried the chicken and cheese now I never know which one to order because they are both so taste.

i was around the area and wanted to grab some lunch with my friends J who lives around and recommended here comes the sun and my other friend R who just decided to join us. J described here comes the sun as one of those 'healthy-almost-vegetarian-kinda-places' and i was cool with it. R got deeply offended because apparently he loves meat? i could not have guessed that.... so, we got there .. place is located in a shopping mall plaza. looks like a pharmacy because they even sell natural products like vitamins and teas... there are a few tables to the right, it was almost full and everything i saw come out of the kitchen looked and smelled great. went through their menu, lots of stuff.... but everything cooked with low fat or 'healthier' ingredients. i asked what the soup of the day was. waitress said it was clam chowder, sounded good so i got that and a turkey burger with cheese. J got the chicken and cheese, apparently a signature dish here. R got the vegetable soup and cashew chicken? but...i thought he loved meat? i know right? what a weird kid. so i got my chowder, i was expecting new england but got manhattan ... very good chowder.. that cup of chowder did not stand a chance. it was gone in less than a minute. im not even kidding. i didnt share any of it either. f that. besides, R got his vegetable soup (yeah, the meat eater)... which he wanted to change after he saw my chowder but then decided not to. i think he liked his soup. that kid is so weird. its hard to tell if he really liked it or not. at least he ate it all. J kept on eating salty crackers with lots and lots of 'sun sauce'. their famous sauce which i dont know what its made of but i think it contains mayo and i dont care how healthy you think light mayo is but ... dude, mayo is not healthy. oil and eggs? oh yeah. how healthy. main course got to the table. J stop eating crackers and focused on the chicken. it was gone in 15 mins. my burger was good! very tasty and thick. the only reason i did not finish it is cause i also ate about 300 crackers with that sun sauce. so fuckin good. oh and then J ordered sweet potato fries... the waitress brought that with a bottle of honey and a little cup. mix some sun sauce with some honey .. dip the sweet potatoes on that. bro... forget about it. thats it. that shit made my lunch. R did not finish his meal but he said he liked it. who knows? he also said he had been eating way too much meat lately? wtf. its safe to say the 3 of us had a great lunch here even though service was not the fastest... or nicest. i dont care, its not like i was having lunch with a weirdo anyways.

I've had friends and acquaintances recommend this place to me and swore up and down to me that it was good, despite my skepticism. I (incorrectly) thought it was a vegan place, and I wanted no part of a meatless meal. Well, this place is not a vegetarian place (they have lots of meals with meat), instead it fancies itself more as a health food restaurant. While I would, normally, be happy to report that meat is indeed on the menu, it really makes no difference as the food here is so bland that they might as well have swapped the meat out with tofu. It's everything you would fear about eating at hippie-fied health food establishment (complete with decor straight from 1973). I ordered a cashew chicken entree, and it tasted like soy sauce. How, you ask? Because I drowned the entire plate in a sea of soy sauce just so I could taste something. I sampled some of my girlfriend's dish and the situation wasn't much better. On top of that, the service was awful. Some of the slowest, most inattentive service I've ever received at a restaurant in S. Florida. Considering the sad state of customer service in S. FLA, that is saying something.

You know a place is great when you walk in and you feel like someone is going to call your name out like Norm on CHEERS. A healthy eating restaurant that's small but has a cozy sweet charm. It usually has an older crowd (in older, I mean over 50) but they all seem younger. I figure it has to be what their eating. They have fresh squeezed orange juice served in a chilled mug, always a winner. My personal favorite is their Sunshine burger with a side of sweet potato fries. After your meal they always give you a free small serving of vanilla or chocolate ice cream yogurt. Good healthy food made with love. That's what I use to think. Now, they have a all new cold look and the wait staff is not so great. I still love the Sunburgers though.

All I can say is the FOOD is AMAZING! The food is made fresh and the ingredients used are healthy. Usually healthy foods taste bland not in this case the food here is extremely tasty. The fish and hamburgers are delicious!!! Highly recommend eating at here comes the sun!!!

Here Comes the Sun, is my all time favorite health food restuarant. The food is always tasty, the portions are always plentiful and the staff is tremendously helpful. I usually order out from Here Comes the Sun but I've also gone to their location. Their location is nothing fancy, it's a very simple setting that's got everything you need. I highly recommend the lunch special. For sux bucks, you can get a soup with half a sandwich or pita, fruit or rice, a yogurt and their amazing Red Zinger Ice Tea. Their chicken and cheese is also very yummy, and so are the sweet potatoe fries that come with a side of honey. Ask for the miso dressing when you order a salad. I've had the salmon and turkey burgers there too, very filling and always delicious.

I wanted to like this place but I couldn't. The boyfriend and I went for an early dinner on a Monday night. The place was pretty much empty. We stood by the door for quite a while waiting for someone to seat us or at least acknowledge our presence. And the service was downhill from there. Water was never refilled and although I asked for that sun sauce a few times it never did show up. I could understand this if the place had been bustling, but we were one of two filled tables! As for the food, meh. The sweet potato fries (cut in wafers which was new) were not that great. Perhaps they would have been better with the sun sauce? I had the egg salad salad and it was okay - a generous scoop of decent egg salad served over a salad with sprouts and veggies. My boyfriend had the cashew shrimp... It was awful - a very, very bland (did it need sun sauce?) stir fry of brown rice and julienned veggies with shrimp, even after drenching it is soy sauce (whoops! so much for healthy) it was not good. It is too bad, because I have made the exact same thing and it turns out great, I figured a restaurant should be able to make it better than mine? Maybe the other dishes are better than what we had? Maybe things are better with the MIA sun sauce? I do not think I will be in a rush to go back and find out though. I just refuse to believe "healthy" has to be not tasty...

the place is dirty, unacceptably dirty for a food establishment. the service was fast, cheerful and friendly. the food was sub-par. salad was made from precut vegetables, broccoli with browned edges. sauce and dressings were great. lasagna was re-heated from an old batch that was soggy and formless. skip it there are much better 'healthy' options around there.. grateful bread, metro, vegetarian restaurant by I forgot his name

I've been coming to this place for years since way back in 99 when i discovered it by accident. then i started to come by just about once every week when i lived down the road 5-6 years ago....now.. i just try to make it everytime i have an 'extended' lunch break from work. As always, i've ordered the chicken-n-cheese. by far the best selection in their wide healthy menu. But other selections like 'the hot one' and their salads should be sampled as well. Mike, the owner, is super nice and always by the door answering the daily slew of take-out orders. much of which are worthy since their lunch specials are better than most in the area. In fact, every time i order a chicken-n-cheese i get it with iced tea and some frozen yogurt with it. pretty cool for nine-ten bucks. Their hours arent the greatest though, they close early on weeknights and are not open on sundays. Fortunately for lunch, it does thy hunger good.

Brian K's review offers a good description of the place. Most likely, he had different dishes from what I had. Why did I say that? For no bad reason, but I didn't think the food excelled out of the ordinary. For a health store with healthy food dishes, there's not much you could expect out of the stereotype except that the food was not bad and you wouldn't spit it out. Thank god for that! This restaurant probably have been in business for a long time, and the food is certainly healthy and they draw in lots of loyal customers. I was surprised to see 6 tables taken in this restaurant, despite the prices being a tad bit high for the food in an old restaurant located in a nondescript area ($12 to $18 range except for lunch specials and early bird specials). Maybe it's too close of a drive to the Beach? But it's still a drive away. Well, regardless, I was pleased to see that this restaurant has a macrobiotic platter. What is macrobiotic food? Think vegan when you're supposed to be thinking vegetarian. Now think of something stricter than vegan. That's macrobiotic, pretty much. I hope nobody kills me for such comparison, but it's the best I can explain at the moment. Such food is extremely rare even in the vast culinary landscape that exists in/around Miami. My eggplant parmesan was good, and so was the macrobiotic platter, but honestly, I think I could have better. I would try Brian K's suggestion or something else in the menu. Certainly, the salad and the chicken probably would be the most impressive thing here. Sandwiches and pasta probably won't be as impressive. I would stick with the meaty or fishy plates and forget the vegetarian plates unless if it was a salad. That's my hunch. Additional note: this restaurant is actually a well respected restaurant in the area. They've garnered multiple reviews from various sources and is supposed to provide good food. It may be possible that I did not go in an ideal time - early bird times are not usually ideal now that I think of it.

Holy shit! Five words, Chicken & Cheese with ''Sun Sauce'' !!! Introduced to me by a dear ol friend of mine, this place I believe is a health-conscious restaurant, but jeez, I would have never thought I'd find such a tasty meal in such a place. I HIGHLY recommend driving, taking a bus, cab, shit, even biking over there to try chicken & cheese doused with their ever so famous sun sauce.

I love Here Comes The Sun! Our dinner was amazing! We started with the split pea soup. A little thick but still delicious and flavorful. Of course we had to try the Chicken and Cheese....AMAZING!!! Smothered it in "sun sauce" and WOW!! My husband had the Sunburger on whole wheat pita. It had a little too much curry for me but he loved it. The place leaves a lot to be desired as far as decor is concerned but honestly, who cares when the food is that good. It was clean, the service was spectacular and this little hole in the wall is a keeper in my book! And a added bonus...a complimentary little yogurt at the end of our meal.

Went to HCTS last night for the first time. It was cute, with a mid-century, diner type of look. The booths are divided by hanging plants which give each nook a cheap-romantic, private feel. The place was very quite, meaning no great ambiance, definitely a "locals" type of place. Pretty nice, as other reviewers for this restaurant have mentioned, the kind of place where they know you. They have these delicious little wheat crackers to much on while you wait for your server - may I say, start munching 'cause the wait is looooong!!! Even if the place is empty. The food was not bad, but being that I'm trying this vegetarian adventure for the first time in my life, I was a little hesitant to try some of the dishes for fear they may be too bland. They had a lot of pasta options, and although I was really in the mood for some rice and tofu, I chose the eggplant parmesan ($10). It was very good - had I been in the mood for it. I guess I was looking for options with "sauces" - which weren't many. Next time I will try other dishes I'm not familiar with so I can start learning. Hubs had some chicken w/rice & veggies ($14) - it looked so clean, there wasn't a drop of grease on the plate or the food - LOVED IT (didn't try the chicken, but the veggies and rice were delicious - had to put some salt and pepper on the rice & veggies though) ~ should have ordered the rice and tofu!!! (must remember for next time) A cool thing at the restaurant is that most dinner dishes come with soup or salad. We both opted for the soup - Lentil - and it was GREAT!!! A small portion, perfect so you still have room for dinner. Which, by the way, the portion was huge. Em's plate was super full, and mine, well let's just say I had to bring half home. We were fully stuffed by the time we were done when the waitress asked us what flavor yogurt we wanted. "we're too full" we replied, to which she answered, but it comes with your meal... we're a pair of pigs, b/c we quickly knew which flavors - I had chocolate/vanilla swirl, and Em had vanilla. The perfect end to a perfect meal - don't know how we fit it in, but we did. You pay at the front (like Denny's & IHOP) which is neat, b/c then before you pay, you can walk around the little market they have with lots of vitamins, teas and other healthy stuff. So the place is really cute and the food was really good... which means you're probably wondering why I'm only giving this place 3 stars?!?!?! Service was extremely slow - extremely!!!! There were probably a total of 4 tables with diners, but we waited a long time for someone to take our order, once the order was placed the soups came out quickly, but the entrees took forever, then the yogurt didn't come out as quickly as we thought it'd take for someone to squirt it into a cup and bring it out. Add to that the service. It was not bad, but it was not good. Our waitress wasn't rude, but wasn't friendly either. So I really have no comments on that, wish she'd been a little friendlier, but I understand there was a slight language barrier. Wish I could give them 3.5 stars, but really, I won't give them 4, not yet. Will definitely try it again though, and maybe I'll update it to more!

I've been addicted to Here Comes the Sun for about 8 years now and there's a reason why: the chicken and cheese with sun sauce! What is this dish, you ask? Imagine breaded chicken served over a bed of basmati rice topped with piping hot muenster cheese. DELISH! Now, let's talk about the sun sauce...it's this dressing that tastes good on just about anything. I bet it would make a 2-by-4 taste edible. Yumm. The owner, Kenny, is a doll, too. Aside from the chicken and cheese, I've also had the sun burger (veggie burger), potato skins (ridiculously good!) and all the soups. Go, go, go!!!!!

OMG. What a pleasant surprise. I ordered the Chicken and Cheese lunch. For $10, I got a large bowl of rice, Breaded and baked chicken breast with low fat cheese, but thats not all, they also throw in a raspberry tea and a small icecream. Not only is it all healthy, but it was delicious too!

the chicken and cheese is absolutely amazing!!! the only other time i ordered something else i got the chicken salad on pita break and it was delicious too. i don't ever get through a meal there without the red zinger...yum! oh! and the sun sauce is pretty much the best thing ever. i put it on the crackers they have in the little basket on the table and dip the sweet potato fries in it also. so so good, and i always ask for a small container to go so i can take some of the sun sauce home with me.

okay, yes, you must go to HCTS and get the chicken n cheese with sun sauce, that's what I get every-time I go. We probably go there 3 times a month.... My recommendation is if you go to dine in that you sit right at the 1st booth by the door..... I swear, you will crack up laughing during your whole dinner! The interaction between Kenny (the owner), his sister, and Ruthie (his 80 yr old cashier), and all his to go drivers is hilarious. Kenny is a comedian..... Don't go there to expect to get this high class service, it's so not like that.... This is a neighborhood restaurant where everyone knows each other and its a good time.... You got to also try their onion rings and sweet potato fries, yummy!!!

If it weren't for Here Comes the Sun's strange operating hours, I would eat there a lot more often. Out of the four times I've tried to patronize their establishment during seemingly reasonable hours, I've managed to eat there once. When I did, it was good. I split a massive chicken and cheese plate with a friend, and I wouldn't mind going back and attacking one again. Soon. The ambiance of the place is a bit strange. Half of it is a slightly ratty health-food store, while the other is a sit down restaurant. With beat up tables, and shifty booths (you'll see..) The restaurant itself is a bit unkempt, but it's not dirty. It's not a place for a fancy date, but it's perfect for dinner with a couple friends. The food was great. Everything was proceeded by a very fresh salad, and the main course was excellent. I want to go back and try other things, but I need another chicken+cheese first. According to their menu, nothing is cooked in oils or otherwise fried, so it may take "a little extra time." That warning worried me at first, but the food was out within a very reasonable time. No matter what you get, try the yellow squeeze-bottle on your table, that would be a delicious yogurt-dressing. Dinner was followed by an excellent frozen yogurt, which I had no hopes of finishing. I hope to go back very soon, and maybe bring some more friends. The name, location and atmosphere might be a bit odd, but their food makes everything right.

I went there the other day since I read good reviews about this restaurant Well here's my review I love good food and this food does not have flavor and is extremely unhealthy. I ordered a lasagna and an avocado melt sandwich which tasted like butter and no taste. The lasagna tasted like cheese and noodles without flavoring. The place is messy and the decor is stuck in the 70's with painted wall paneling. This so called healthy restaurant should be closed down, this is one of the worst restaurants I ever been too. I have to compliment the staff, very friendly and courteous. And to all the people who stated the food was healthy and good try Java and Juice cafe located in Aventura.

I love the food there. I am trying to go threw the menu, however, I keep ordering the chicken parmesan, with their fruit smoothie. LOL, ooh that reminds me I also like their vegetable lasagna, and sweet potato fries. Flip this is making me hungry.

The only reason I have only given HCTS 4 stars is simply because the location and décor leave a bit to be desired. I quickly looked past the weird 1970's décor and grimy rug when I had my first taste of the magically addictive SUN SAUCE. This sauce can be put on literally anything (trust me I have tried) and make it taste better. Some other reviews say it is made with mayonnaise because it is creamy looking, but it is actually made with zero oil or mayonnaise. What give it that consistency is the miso and tofu they use. They also have other homemade dressings that are very good, like the Bonzai dressing, but my heart belongs to the SUN. In addition the insanely addictive and magically wonderful sun sauce I suggest the Neil's Special which is a wonderful concoction of baked sweet potato, topped with black beans, steamed veggies, grilled chicken and mozzarella cheese that has been baked to golden brown perfection. Throw some SUN SAUCE on there and you are good to go to veggie heaven. I also love the Greek salad and most of all the Sun Salad which has lettuce tomato and chicken on a bed of perfectly cooked brown rice. The trick to this dish is to ask for grilled onions on top...Yum! Other items on the menu including the turkey burger, regular burger, sweet potato fries, dairy free chocolate chip cookies and carrot cake are also worth mentioning. Don't miss out on the delicious Red Zinger ice tea and fat free vanilla yogurt that is included with your meal! I've been to HCTS about 100 times and I never leave without a container of sauce and often some of that brown rice to hold me over until my next visit. The major plus is that the deliver all the way to my apt in Brickell It's the little things that make me happy!

Would you believe me if I told you I ate Here Comes the Sun every day (except for Sundays and holidays bc they are closed) for three years? Well, I did. Every single day. If you don't believe me, ask the owner, Kenny, or his adorable grandma. It got to the point where I didn't even have to tell them who I was or what I wanted. I would just call and say, "hungry," and my order of steamed rice with soy cheese and sun sauce was on its way. When I say rice and cheese, I mean a troff of steamed brown rice with soy cheese baked in an oven to crispy crunchy golden brown perfection. My ability to consume the dinner-sized portion of this in one sitting left most of my friends in awe. So what is it about HCTS that kept me coming back for years? Wait, there's more to it than that. When I lived on the Beach, I would actually call to put my order in at 10 a.m. so that I could get it during the Beach drop off around 2. Yeah, I would wait four hours for this stuff. And most of the time I had to wait another 20 minutes to heat it up again. But I didn't mind one bit. And it was all because of the Sun Sauce. No one knows what's in it for sure, maybe some cumin or tarragon, maybe some tofu, some apple cider vinegar, magic powder that addicts you upon first taste. All I know is that if the show "Intervention" had a special on Sun Sauce addicts, I would surely be on it. After just one taste you're hooked. Three years later, I'm still a sauce-er. And you cannot make me go to rehab--no, no, no.

Shared the burger, sweet potato fries, and chocolate cake with my beau and we both agreed we'd be going back / ordering takeout from there soon again. The burger meat tasted very fresh. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is the ambiance/ decor. They could use some speakers playing loungy music and maybe some fun decorations and pop-y wall color. It's not the kind of place you'd take a person on a first date despite the great food. Which is a shame.

I paid $17 for a turkey melt with avocado (it was really turkey breast with fresh sliced avocado) to be delivery to my job, and its always taken over an hour (there's been times it never came at all). Every time you call to check on your order they always say, "it should be there in 10 minutes." I use to pay it because I really enjoyed the food, and they have this great what I think it's a mayo/vinegar sauce (that taste so good and their "quinoa", which really rice). Sometimessss your meal comes with a purple tea... juice drink. Whatever-- it was better then the almost nothing you can order around my job; at least a nice change of pace. Well.... Last time.... My turkey melt had deli meat turkey, and not the good kind but like Oscar Mayer, don't forget to pull the plastic ring off your slice, quality meat (remember: $17!). And the avocado, which you have to pay like $2 extra for (probably more but I want to be as far as possible), was a guacamole spread-- bland and cheap quality! It was horrible! I was/am so disappointed. I was thought they were expensive but they had they're strong suits but I won't order there anymore (definitely not my former favorite thing to eat that I can get to my job). They must be doing bad because they use to send a little ice cream with each meal, use a little but it was a great little extra! I mentioned the juice-- that use to come with each meal too but your luckily if they send one (there's 8 of us that order at a time). What happened, Here Comes the Sun?!!!

Stay away from this place for delivery I paid 35$ for 2 dishes plus 10$ tip. Salmon was dry , Cesar salad had awful dressing. Not worth even half the money they charge, I usually don't brag when food is good. :(

Normally I have food delivered but this was my first dine in experience. I was greeted promptly and my waitress was super friendly. My dish of choice is chicken and cheese and its always good every single time I order it and that sauce is awesome. For me consistency is important and this place has not let me down yet.
